This is one reason I always look around before entering a crawlspace. Click for photo (86488 Bytes) But sometimes they are hiding and you don't see them until its too late. I crawled under this one and didn't see her going in, and then she crawled out and was waiting for me, or so it seemed. I figured she would dress out at around three pounds. OK, maybe not, but she was big. I may not have seen her because I was looking at the snake skin I was crawling over going in. Snake skin under me, 3 pound spider over me. Did I say 3 pound, I meant 4. ------------------ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" – Adam Savage Wes Owens Absolute Home Inspections,LLC =================================== Books-Reports-Scheduling-Tools |

I'm just glad I didn't see it before I went in. As far as snakes are concerned, they don't bother me at all. I grew up playing with snakes because my uncle use to raise them. But I do have arachnophobia, although forcing myself to do this type of work has really helped me a lot. Of course there are the occasional set backs. Like that 5 pounder waiting to pounce and sink its 2 1/2 inch long fangs into my neck. ------------------ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" – Adam Savage Wes Owens Absolute Home Inspections,LLC =================================== Books-Reports-Scheduling-Tools |

Wes,That is the exact reason I am grateful to live and inspect where I am. 90% slabs here, thankfully. Although I do come across some crawls every now and then. I would think that crawlspaces in Fl would be worse. You know man and eating lizards, cobras and gaters in the septic systems not to mention spiders that carry off small dogs..... Tony |

My Uncle was a Plumber in Charleston, S.C. and while in a crawlspace one day he ran up on an Alligator. He said he hit every floor joist with his head on the way out.------------------ "I reject your reality and substitute my own!" – Adam Savage Wes Owens Absolute Home Inspections,LLC =================================== Books-Reports-Scheduling-Tools |

"while in a crawlspace one day he ran up on an Alligator. He said he hit every floor joist with his head on the way out."Well ... Yeah! If he'd have just left the gator back there and not tried to bring it out for supper, he would not have had that problem. ------------------ Jerry Peck Ormond Beach (i.e., Daytona Beach area) =================================== Books-Reports-Scheduling-Tools |

It looks like I miss all he fun in Indiana. We only have raccoons, spiders, snakes and the occasional possum up here. Here is a picture of one of my friends I met one day when I turned over from entering the crawl. Click for photo (77518 Bytes) The worst scare came from a dog though. I was in a long crawl space that I had entered another section and was in there for about 20 minutes. When I was coming back out about 20 ft from the entrance I saw these pair of eyes running straight toward me. It was the seller's Jack Russell Terrier. Lucky for me I had already gave it a treat once and he just wanted another one. A different adventure everyday...Jeff G |

My scariest crawl was once when I had crawled about 30 minutes to the back side of this home, and turned around to see the sellers 4 yr. son almost on my heels. The kid had never made a sound. His mom acted like no big deal. He's just curious. Rick |
