Missing.That's what that piece is called.  Cast stone. Or ... Applied masonry veneer. The problem with applied masonry veneer on wood frame is that it needs a drainage plane behind the cast stone, and a weather resisting barrier behind the drainage plain. That is *IF* masonry veneer is allowed to be (and I'm not sure it is allowed to be - I don't think it is) "adhered".
